As promised in the previous news, we are releasing MediaPortal 1.0 RC3 today.
Before you scroll down to the end of the page to get your hands on the download, we would like you to read the following lines as they contain some important information regarding this release!
A new Style!
We are very happy to announce that with MediaPortal 1.0 RC3 we release the first version of the new default skin named Blue3.
It's a completely redesigned skin which features some new and very cool animations, which were added to the SkinEngine recently.
In MediaPortal 1.0 RC3 "only" the 4:3 version of Blue3 is included. But we've already started with the "wide" (16:9) version which will be part of the untested weekly svn builds soon.
In MediaPortal 1.0 RC3 the "old" skins Blue2 and Blue2wide are still included, but they will be fully replaced by Blue3 and Blue3wide when finished.
Even though Blue3 is a 4:3 skin, we would like you to test it on 16:9 displays and share your opinion in the newly created Blue3 sub-forum about what we should change for the wide version in order to profit from the additional width of 16:9 displays...
Again, the great support from the community made this possible.
Special thanks to the users that took some time to test issues and create proper bug reports by following the Support and Bugreport guideline...
It's been a while since we posted the latest news. So what has been happening since then?
MediaPortal Skin-Survey
We have been discussing a few things inside the team and need to make some decisions. In order to involve the community into this process we have created a survey to gather the required information.
We would like to encourage all community members to participate. Your input will help shape the future of MP. The survey will run until Friday the 26th September.
MediaPortal 1
MediaPortal 1.0 is progressing nicely and we are approaching RC3 with big steps. We have eliminated a lot of bugs since the release of RC2 as you can see in the roadmaps of MediaPortal and the TV-Server .
MediaPortal 2
MediaPortal II is also still in development. Developers have done some massive refactoring of the core, the plugin system and our open source MPF graphics engine. MPF is compatible with Microsofts WPF in many areas and has some additional features.
All these efforts are done to ensure that MediaPortal 2 is flexible, stable and easy to use. It will still take some more time until we will be able to release new test builds. We have decided to temporarily disable the MediaPortal 2 forums, until we reach the point. In the mean time, you can follow the development process via the MediaPortal 2 Roadmap.
Nearly 3 months after the release of MediaPortal 1.0 RC1 we are pleased to announce that MediaPortal RC2 is available for download.
This Release:
We have put our main efforts into bug fixing for stability and usability again. According to our roadmap every RC1 specifc bug could be fixed.
Unfortunately we had to remove the "MyTrailers" and "MyMusicVideos" plugins from
the installation package because both plugins are broken and
unmaintained. Their original developers are not active anymore and
trying to get
the code working again would delay the complete product for another few weeks.
We want to thank everyone who took the time to created proper reports and to those who submitted patches.
You pushed MediaPortal forward.
